With my mix of business and design skills, some call me a creative anomaly, but I call myself a customer-focused communicator with versatile abilities. Following an MBA and a career in marketing and advertising, I was drawn to pursue more artistic passions. In 2007, I attended the empowering independent art school, the Toronto School of Art, where I earned a Diploma of Fine Art in Design and Illustration and learned to harness the power of visual expression.

I currently see myself as an active storyteller. My goal is to create passionate but practical work that moves the target audience with a relevant and persuasive story. Driven by your brand vision, I create in both print and online formats, using the latest platforms such as WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Canva, and Social Jukebox as well as the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. I am as comfortable editing a photo-based image for your pitch deck as I am creating an original hand-drawn illustration for a social media post.

Helping smaller professional firms manage a wide range of their marcomm needs has been my recent focus. My formal marketing background sets me apart from many designers, enabling me to view your communication needs from a designer as well as a marketer’s perspective. Resultingly, I believe I can provide more strategic and effective solutions to you.

I have also been involved in more traditional storytelling. In 2016, I wrote and illustrated a children’s book called Weeds in Nana’s Garden, This creation marked the end of a personal journey. In 2005, my mom was diagnosed with Early-Onset Dementia. In the years following, my family and I learned firsthand about the heart-ache of the disease. After my mother’s death in 2010, I decided I wanted to provide support to families dealing with dementia. By applying my varied abilities,  I created my children’s book.  Furthermore, I founded an indie publishing company – Flipturn Publishing – to launch the work so that I could donate to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada from the book proceeds. Today, my debut book has been on the Amazon Best-seller list, has won several awards and has been released in 4 other languages in order to reach families around the world! Learn more here.

In 2017, to further my commitment of providing resources for families on a dementia journey, I joined the management team running AlzAuthors.com, a global non-profit committed to supporting caregivers through sharing books, blogs and stories about Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. I am currently the Creative Director. And in the Spring of 2018, Flipturn Publishing launched another children’s book about dementia. Through a collaboration with writer and Dementia Care Expert, Jaclyn Guenette, and my illustrations, the tender picture book, I Smile For Grandpa is now available at fine book retailers everywhere in English, French, German and Danish. During the last decade, I have been extremely privileged to be involved in such a range of creations.  It has been an honour to  use my passion for visual communications to contribute to the of success entrepreneurial efforts, independent publications and non-profits.  I can not wait to see what I can help you create next!
